I’m there today, with one of my Strength of the Pack books up for grabs, talking about Christmas – and seeking tips on how to prevent a Labrador from rooting through all the presents before anyone else can get to them.
The problem is that on his first Christmas with us, he was very timid and anxious (he’s a rescue dog) and so to reassure him that there was nothing nefarious in all those brightly wrapped parcels, I made sure the first two presents that were unwrapped were for him. That was a disastrous move, because he then thought every present was for him. And he’s still convinced of it now.
In this photo, he was so eager to claim his present that I didn’t even get a chance to remove the tag before he took it back to his basket.
