Strength of the Pack – release dates and an introduction

Images of book cover for Strength of the Pack.

Text in the image reads: Strength of the Pack, The complete series, releasing weekly January 29 - March 5.

A series about finding your place, facing your past, and risking everything for the ones who see you clearly - and love you anyway.

Strength of the Pack is a complete six-book series following the Elk Ridge pack—a tiny group of wolf-shifters, living quietly and minding their own business on a ranch outside a sleepy Colorado town.

Until Jesse Turner arrives.

Jesse is a stray wolf, deeply allergic to rules, reluctant to trust, and entirely uninterested in pack life—especially under the rule of a bossy, brooding alpha. (Hi, Matt.)

From the moment Jesse stumbles into Elk Ridge, wounded, prickly, and opinionated, everything changes. The pack is drawn into inter-pack disputes, political intrigue, and murder. On the plus side, they start meeting a lot more people—one or two of whom might just turn out to be someone’s long-lost mate.

Or not.

An Impossible Mate will release on 29th January, and a new book will follow every week for the full six-book series.

New series coming in January 2026

I haven’t updated the blog in a while, but I’ve been quietly working away on something that means a lot to me: revisiting my first series, Strength of the Pack.

When I got the rights back at the end of last year, I thought I’d lightly revise the original novellas and put them back out into the world. But when I started re-reading, I realised how much more I wanted to do with these characters. What began as a small update became a complete reworking—these books are each, on average, 25,000 words longer than the originals.

The series will begin re-releasing in early 2026, one book a week for six weeks. I’ll share exact dates, covers, and pre-order info soon.

I’m so happy to bring this series back and to have been able to breathe new life into it. If you read the original novellas, I hope you’ll enjoy the expanded versions. And if you’re coming to the pack for the first time—welcome. There’s a place for everyone in Elk Ridge!

Updates, an audiobook, translations and re-releases

I’d planned to work on the fourth book in the Wings over Albion series over the last couple of months, but a few unscheduled hospital stays have sadly got in the way of that. The book will come, but with more of a delay than I’d hoped for. Thanks so much for your patience!

In the meantime, I have some other pieces of news to share:

A new chapter for the Strength of the Pack series

I’ve regained the rights to my Strength of the Pack series and am looking forward to releasing this on Kindle Unlimited. The books just need a little reworking here and there (I wrote them some years ago) and some new covers, and they’ll be good to go. I’ll post here as soon as they’re available.

The Red Dragon of Oxford audiobook

A very talented narrator is working hard on this at the moment, and it should be available early next year.

Large print editions

Now that I have the rights to almost all of my books back, I’m slowly working through them to release large print editions of each book. Blowing off Steam is already available as a large print paperback, and A Star to Sail By will follow shortly.

German translations

The Wings over Albion series is also spreading its wings a little further – I’m thrilled to have signed a contract with Dead Soft Verlag for German translations of the existing three books.

So, although I haven’t been able to do much writing recently, there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes. Thank you, as always, for your support. I’ll share more updates soon and look forward to what’s to come in the new year.

What happens in the wilderness stays in the wilderness. Until it doesn’t…

When his alpha invites a bunch of cougar-shifters to visit, wolf-shifter Karl Griffin is not happy. All he wants is a quiet life protecting his pack and forgetting his past. Instead, the big cats arrive and disrupt everything.

Leon Fitzroy has never found anywhere he can belong. The only panther in a cougar pride, he’s fought to be accepted, but he doesn’t really fit in. And now he’s expected to spend time with a wolf pack. Wolf-shifters are infuriating. Even worse, the most annoying wolf is also ridiculously hot.

When Leon ambushes a member of Karl’s pack to prove a point, tensions between them threaten to boil over. Sparks continue to fly as they’re forced to work together. But out in the wilderness, they find there are worse dangers than bossy wolves and smug cats. Survival depends on learning to trust one another—if they can.

Final Strength of the Pack book: Karl’s story

I’m delighted to share that Lone Wolf, the final book in the Strength of the Pack series, will be published by Siren Bookstrand on 10th May. It’s been a lot longer coming than I ever anticipated; unfortunately, I’ve been battling ill-health for a long time and for most of that time, ill-health was winning. I can only apologise to those of you who’ve been waiting so patiently.

I also have another book, The Earl’s Awakening, which is a Regency m/m, coming out with Extasy Books in October but more of that closer to the time. In the meantime, wolves!

Riding the Whirlwind is now available for pre-order

Riding the Whirlwind, Book V in the Strength of the Pack series, is now available for pre-order here. Released on July 15th, it follows the adventures of Christian and Dave in New Mexico during the events of Shifting Sands.

Riding the Whirlwind cover

Five years undone in just five days.

Dave Mitchell and Christian Taylor are on a mission from their alpha—to discover what happened to a pack of Argent shifters thirteen years ago. Away from their pack and out of their usual routine, they find underlying tensions in their relationship coming to the surface.

When their investigation leads them to the resident pack, Christian seeks respite from his demons by throwing himself eagerly into the cage-fighting ring the pack runs. He knows Dave hates him to fight, but he also knows Dave will understand. Dave always understands.

But when Dave meets a kindred spirit among the pack members, all Christian’s certainties come crashing down around him. It becomes clear that their relationship might not survive this. And when things between them reach crisis point and the local pack gets involved, it may prove to be the death of more than just their relationship.

Strength of the Pack V – coming to a virtual store near you!

The book that I was beginning to despair of ever finishing is finally with the publisher and the contract signed for publication in July 2014. Remind me to never again listen to Christian when he tells me he wants his own book and then will only co-operate with it on his terms.

Titled Riding the Whirlwind, it follows the adventures of Christian and Dave in New Mexico during the events of Shifting Sands.  And may I just say to the residents of New Mexico, Christian’s views on the state are not mine. I feel I should apologise for them.

Updates and dentists

I promised to post an update when I had anything concrete to report about Book 5 of Strength of the Pack, so….   I’ve finished the first draft and am currently tidying it up. I had two dentists’ appointments this week – cruel and unusual punishment! – and took a printout with me to red-pen in the waiting room. It felt slightly surreal to sit there critiquing sex scenes when surrounded by very tense people awaiting their own turn at torture.

I don’t know if it’s a generational thing – I’m old enough to have grown up with pens and paper at school rather than computers – but although I do most of my editing onscreen, there does come a point when I feel the need to see a printout. And every single time I have it on paper in front of me, I spot things that escape me on the monitor. Is that just me, or do other people find the same?

In summary, Book 5, tentatively titled ‘Riding the Whirlwind’, is coming along nicely. As is my ability not to be embarrassed by editing sex scenes in public places. I’m not sure whether that latter development is an entirely positive thing.
