A five Sweet Pea review for Shifting Sands

Monday mornings are not exactly my favourite time.  This is not an exaggeration:

But Monday morning this week is shaping up very nicely indeed, because PizzyGirl over at Mrs Condit & Friends has awarded Shifting Sands five Sweet Peas! She has some lovely things to say about the book and the Strength of the Pack series. And for those who drop by to have a look at what she makes of the book, there’s still the chance to get into the draw for an Amazon certificate. The review and draw can be found here.

Shifting Sands – blog tour, giveaway, and a review

So I have two three stops on the  Shifting Sands blog tour today! There’s still time to enter the draw for an Amazon gift certificate, so do drop by if you have a moment.

The first stop is at MM Good Book Reviews, where the book’s received a lovely review.

“Betrayal, murder attempts, and a chase to the capital all come to death-defying heights in Shifting Sands. There are hot passionate moments, punch in the gut rejections, and a nail-biting run and fight for life and justice.”

The second stop is with the lovely Amanda C Stone, where she has some fascinating questions for me. Vanilla or dark chocolate and lime? You decide. 🙂

Edited to add: Whoops! I’m also being hosted on Book Reviews and More by Kathy – it’s a busy, busy day that Will at Pride Promotions has lined up for me!

Shifting Sands – release day and excerpt!

The visit to Elk Ridge is supposed to be just another assignment for Tom Barrington. Then he encounters Bryce Reynolds, a generous, warmhearted cowboy who has the easiest smile he’s ever seen. It doesn’t take long for Tom to break all his rules and end up in Bryce’s bed.

Bryce Reynolds believes there’s no such thing as a hot politician, right up until he meets Tom Barrington. Tall, dark, and principled, Tom overturns all of Bryce’s prejudices, and Bryce starts to forget that he doesn’t do serious and he doesn’t do commitment.

As Bryce and Tom struggle to make sense of what’s happening between them, they’re drawn into a political battle—one which could affect the future of every shifter. And when long-buried secrets start coming to light, things turn deadly. Nothing will ever be the same again for the Elk Ridge pack.

And to celebrate release day, an excerpt featuring Tom’s appalling decision-making abilities:

“Does every visit by a councilor get this sort of attention?” Bryce asked. “Not to knock your job, but it’s pretty over the top.”

“This is a little different from usual,” Tom admitted. “You’ve got the most powerful shifters in the country about to visit somewhere that has no security in place. All it would take is some anti-shifter nutcase with an agenda, and half the shifter national government could be wiped out. It makes me wonder why they didn’t invite Jesse to Washington instead, where there’d be a controlled environment.” He knew damn well that they had, but was hoping for a clue as to why the invitation had been turned down.

“They did,” Bryce said, a laugh in his voice. “Jesse’s response, if I remember rightly, was I ain’t no goddamn freak show to be paraded around and stared at. Matt wouldn’t have it, either. He figured that if the Council are so keen on meeting Jesse, they do so on Jesse’s terms.”

This is the fourth book in the Strength of the Pack series, though may be read as a standalone.

Red Moon Rising – available on Amazon

Red Moon Rising has received a lovely 4.5 Sweet Peas review from PizzyGirl at Mrs Condit & Friends Read Books, coincidentally on the day that it’s released on Amazon.

“If you are a fan of shifters, I highly recommend this series.”

Of guest-blogging, reviews, and pants

Taylor Brooks has very kindly hosted me as part of her new feature, Tuesday 20, in which she showcases the first twenty lines of a new or current release. Red Moon Rising is the featured book this week.

Today is a busy day for more than just the Norwegian Curling Team’s pants* (though they too have been busy out on the ice in Sochi), because A Liar’s Moon has received a lovely review from Robyn Elliot at The Romance Reviews. Thanks for the review, Robyn, and I’m delighted you enjoyed the book!

“I would definitely recommend this book for readers who like their M/M characters with flesh on the bones, so to speak, and who enjoy shifter stories involving themes of passion, betrayal and the courage to love. A book to curl up with, with a glass of red wine and a crackling fire. Just don’t open the curtains if the moon is waxing high.”

*Just in case anyone has missed the joy of the Norwegian Curling Team’s pants:

They even have their own facebook page, which I may or may not be following.

Brief update, and release date for Shifting Sands

My apologies for the silence over the last week – I’m having connection issues. The good news is that I now have a release date for Shifting Sands, book 4 in the Strength of the Pack series. It’s released by Siren on March 27th.

Now I’d better get back to working on the fifth book. Maybe that distraction will stop me whimpering every time I realise I don’t have internet access. I can always hope.

Red Moon Rising – release day and excerpt

Well, the title says it all. 🙂 Red Moon Rising is out today, and available from Siren BookStrand with a 15% new-release discount. It’s the third book in my Strength of the Pack series.

Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, Tristan Howe is abducted and imprisoned by a pack at war with his own. His future looks bleak until he finds an unexpected ally in enemy pack member, Colby Williams. A fragile bond develops between them as they escape together.

Safely back with his own pack, Tristan finds his feelings for Colby are more than just gratitude for being rescued. He’s delighted to learn that they’re reciprocated, and even more excited to realize he and Colby are mates.

But idealistic Tristan finally has to face up to the fact that even true love might not be enough to defeat the forces ranged against them—not least his pack-mates’ suspicion and hostility toward Colby, and a mate so scarred by his abusive past that he doesn’t know how to be free. All Tristan can do is try.

And to celebrate a lovely, sunny release day, here’s a little PG excerpt:

Tristan stretched contentedly. He could smell coffee and the unidentifiable mixture of scents that spelled home. And then he remembered and sat up with a gasp, desperate to know if this was real or a dream.

“Easy, Tris,” Bryce said, from where he was sitting next to his bed. He reached out to stroke Tristan’s hair. “You’re safe.”

The familiar touch and voice, things that had grounded him through his teenage years and had never once let him down, were too much for Tristan. He choked Bryce’s name and threw himself into his waiting arms.

“Shh, you’re home, you’re okay,” Bryce was murmuring over and over, rubbing circles on Tristan’s back that were steady and strong, and so unlike his voice which was husky and strained.

It was his stomach grumbling that finally caused Tristan to draw back. He was starving. The last thing he’d eaten was that god-awful stew—

“Colby,” he said, as it came crashing back to him. “Where’s Colby? What happened?” Continue reading “Red Moon Rising – release day and excerpt”

Shifting Sands contract signed

I’ve just signed the contract for Strength of the Pack 4: Shifting Sands, in which some long-buried secrets come to light, rat droppings are shamefully misused, and Bryce discovers the joys of chastity.

Shifting Sands will be released April/May 2014.

A Liar’s Moon review, Karl, and competence porn

A Liar’s Moon has just received a lovely 4.5 Sweet Pea review from Lucky over on Mrs Condit & Friends Read Books. Thank you, Lucky, and I’m so glad it lived up to expectations!

“Favorite character: Karl – I’m dying to know his story. Even though he’s a secondary character in this one, he’s definitely someone you do not want to mess with.”

I’m seeing something of a pattern – Karl appears to be a favourite character with quite a few people. We get some competence porn from him in Red Moon Rising, but I’m afraid his full story will have to wait for the last book. He’s just not as pushy as some of the others. He could kill them where they sleep, but he’s not pushy.
